Children’s Classes

At Ninth Street Dance, our emphasis is on teaching dance and having fun. We do not participate in competitions or stage recitals, and there are no additional fees to those listed below. Ballet attire (leotard, tights, ballet slippers) of any color or other attire which allows freedom of movement (tee-shirt, leggings, shorts, etc.) and bare feet are permissible for Discovering Movement and ballet classes. Sneakers should be worn for hip-hop and break dance classes.

Parents of young children are asked not to remain in the classroom during class. We do, however, have a waiting area and windows for viewing classes in progress, and parents may be invited into the classroom at times for informal showings.

Baby Steps (Crawlers – 2 years)

This class is an opportunity for our youngest dancers and their caregivers to explore the joys of dance and movement. Through dancing with child in arms, rhythm activities, songs, touch, and snuggles, adults will help their children explore movement and sensory exercises in a fun setting for both. Comfy clothes recommended!

Parent/Child Yoga (2-4 years)

Share the joy of yoga with your little one. Yes, yoga! Yoga programs for young children encourage children to be children. Imitation of animals, nature, and everyday objects comes naturally to them. Children love opportunities to use their imaginations to create and explore. Through the use of movement, rhymes, songs, and imaginative storytelling, yoga encourages their natural abilities and interests while also helping them to develop strength, flexibility, and an overall sense of well-being
