Philosophy: Dance is for Everyone!

Ninth Street Dance opened its doors in 1993 with the belief that people of all ages, shapes and sizes can enjoy and benefit from learning to dance. Not a studio for professional dancers, we invite anyone who would like to explore new ways of moving and inhabiting their bodies to join us. We strive to provide a nurturing, non-threatening environment in which beginners as well as experienced dancers/movers can enjoy their favorite movement styles or try out a wide variety of new ones. Register for a class today!

Why dance? Here are some of the reasons:

  • It's a fun way to get some exercise and maybe keep away unwanted pounds
  • Moving in different ways helps you stay flexible
  • It's great for relieving stress
  • It strengthens the mind/body connection and feeds your soul
  • It's universal and primal; human beings are meant to dance!
  • Oh, and did we mention? It's fun!!

Voted INDY Best of the Triangle 2009! Ninth Street Dance offers you these advantages:

  • We recognize that being a professional dancer is not the goal of many students.
  • Our objective is to be inclusive of anyone who wants to dance and offer a broad variety of dance and movement forms.
  • We choose highly skilled and caring instructors.
  • Our location is easily accessible and in an appealing shopping area.
  • We offer day, evening, and weekend classes geared to beginning, returning, and experienced students.

Policies

Registration
Mail your completed Registration Form with payment, or bring both to the first class. Space is limited; advanced registration is recommended. Late registration for most classes is accepted if space permits; fees will be pro-rated.

Fees
Fees for most classes must be paid by the first class for the entire session. Drop-in fees are available for a few classes, as noted. In special cases, payment arrangements may be made, and work-exchanges are sometimes possible. A return check fee of $15 will be charged for checks returned for insufficient funds.

Missed Classes and Refunds
We regret that refunds cannot be given after the first class. However, missed classes may be made up during the same session in any other class of an appropriate level. In cases of emergency or serious illness, credit may be extended toward a future class, but only for classes missed after the office is notified. Students who must withdraw before the second meeting of a class will receive a refund less a $10 service charge.

Cancellations
Ninth Street Dance reserves the right to cancel a class if enrollment is not sufficient. Students may choose another class or a full refund.

Inclement Weather
In case of inclement weather, please call the studio at (919) 286-6011 to hear a recorded message regarding class cancellations. We will attempt to schedule make-up classes when possible; if a make-up class is not possible, you may attend any other class we offer during the same session or the session immediately following. We are not able to give refunds or credit for classes missed due to weather.

Trial Classes
New students may try one class per session on a complimentary basis (does not apply to workshops or classes where drop-ins are accepted). If you decide to enroll, this class will be counted as your first class; payment will be due by the beginning of your second class.
